When you are preparing for a mission trip or adventure travel one of the things you need to consider is your immunizations. Many times, people do not want to get them because of possible side effects or cost. Yet this is not just an issue about side effects or finances.
Many have even made it about faith.
You can have great faith and still protect yourself with the provision that God has provided through knowledge He has given to the Doctors to help treat and heal.
It does not mean that one has less faith because you choose to get vaccinated. It only gives you another layer of protection to help you from getting sick. This helps you to be a more effective tool for God and His kingdom.
There are several places that you can find the information you need to see what precautions you need to take to go into another part of the world. The quickest place is the CDC’s website. Here you can look up the area you are traveling and also get a full list of the recommended vaccinations you will need. It should be noted that some countries will require you to carry a yellow card meaning that you have been vaccinated against yellow fever. Another great resource is the United States Governments travel site. It has a host of great information and is a great resource to checkout before making any international travel. You can also contact your local health department and make an appointment. They will look up all the information about your trip and give recommendations and also have the vaccinations that you need all in one stop.
Remember, be prepared, do not travel abroad without first checking out these resources and making sure you are protected. The last thing you want to do is to get out of the country and fall ill and not get to enjoy any part of your travels or to be ineffective in helping those you have traveled to assist.
