Help With Anxiety

Have you ever wanted help dealing with anxiety? Have you ever wondered if you could deal with it on your own or if you need professional help?

The first answer to the question: Do I need help dealing with this type of stress is yes.
However, this is not a short and quick answerable topic. There are multiple causes of anxiety and no on stop fix all except one, that being Christ. Even then, you must be open to the options that are available to help you treat and get over anxiety. Most people go through a process even when God gives them the strength. It is not that He is not able, the problem for most of us not getting complete immediate deliverance is our inability to let go.
That being said you must understand, even after you kick it to the curb it will try and raise its ugly head again.
You will have a choice to deal with it through the tools you have learned or to bow your knee to it again, allowing it to gain the victory over your life. This is a continual WORK. It is not something that never comes back. The good news is you can and will have victory over it if you follow these steps and keep moving forward.

First off, how do you find help fighting anxiety?

A quick way is physical exercise. Where this is not a fix-all, it is well documented that physical exercise is critical for good mental health. Interesting enough God tells us we are to care for our body as a temple.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Not only are we to act in a way that is honorable to our body before God, but we are also to live in a way that is holy and honorable.

We are called a temple. Have you seen or heard of anyone taking poor care of a temple in any religion?

Not at all, it is kept in honor. Many even would do without food or costly things to make sure it was kept holy, pure and clean.

We too are supposed to keep ourselves set apart and clean before Him as a temple for Him to dwell in.

How does this relate to anxiety? Well, the best place to find the cure is in the Word of God. I know many people stop right here and say this is a religious thing and move on.

However, this should be the first step not the second.

When anyone does shut out God’s word they will limit their ability to grow in themselves.

The very word religion depicts something we do regularly. So, we cannot have such a dogmatic view of words and the ideas that are behind them.

If any one of us stop and fail to listen just because there is a different point of view, how do we truly know who we are?

If we truly understand who we are and where we stand then we can listen, talk, and learn from anyone we have the opportunity to speak to.

That being said, God teaches us that He is the author of life and bringer of peace. His very nature is that of Love. With Him being the very embodiment of love. He desires for you and I to live a life of victory over the trials of life and all that is brought against us.

Why do non-Christian and many times Christian have trouble fighting off anxiety?
Many times they both have one thing in common:

Ephesians 4:17-19
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

When we do not fully surrender our hearts and minds to God, allowing Him full access to speak, move, and give direction, we do not allow Him to have the access rights needed to help us in our time of need.

This is no different than if you are asked to take care of your parents’ house while they are on vacation and they fail to give you the keys to the house. Because you have no access, you cannot care for their house, their dog, plants, or anything else. You are locked out.
When we do not allow God access to our heart, we have locked Him out not allowing Him the access needed to help us fight off the anxiety or fear that is trying to control.
We must recognize that He has already made a way before we were ever born. He decided to send Jesus to die and be raised again so we can not only live but have peace. Paul tells us that we have been provided weapons and armor to protect us from the ever-present attacks of life the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-20
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

What are we waiting for? We must take action to stop the attacks!

It is not a matter of if you believe it or not. We are all in a world where the natural and super natural are at work. We must start to take a stand and be active in our physical life alongside our spiritual life.

First off, we need to pray that God opens the eyes of our hearts to see the truth of what is at the root of fear and anxiety. The reason I have mentioned fear a few times it is a base root of anxiety. Even when we do not think we are afraid of anything, fear is at the root of this. We must look for the root cause.

If this is something you are dealing with pray this prayer:

Lord God forgive me for not taking a proactive role in dealing with fear and anxiety in my life. Help me to see the truth about what is attacking me and not allow myself to be satisfied with just making it day by day. Help me to use the tools you have provided. Help me to have the understanding to discern what is at the root of this attack and know not only how to pray but also how to stand against it. Help me to be filled with your peace. Thank you, God, Amen!
If you do not know God, you can accept Him in your life. Salvation only requires you to believe in your heart, confess with your mouth:

Romans 10:9-10
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

You can pray:

Lord, forgive me of my sins, I believe that you are the son of God and were raised again the third day. Come into my life and be my Lord and savior.
That’s it, if you prayed that prayer and believed in your heart you are saved. You should now find a bible teaching church and get involved so you can grow and learn and grow.
